CHURWELL
Deep retrofit to Passivhaus EnerPhit standards
Heaton Moor, Stockport
Completed 2017
The existing detached house was a perfect opportunity for a deep retrofit – a dilapidated unmodernised ‘box’ built in 1961 with no insulation or heating – a brilliant blank canvas transformed to Passivhaus (EnerPHit) standard.

The brief was to create a comfortable, spacious and delightful home, yet be simple and affordable. This was achieved by minimising structural works and prioritising Passivhaus elements and the light filled interiors. The remodelled house has new triple-glazed windows, very high levels of insulation and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery (MVHR). The home is super comfortable, with a clean, fresh environment and year-round even temperature and humidity.
